What should I know if my child has braces and has diabetes?

    Your orthodontist needs to know that your child has diabetes and if there are any complications.

    If the braces or wires are irritating your child's mouth they should be fixed as soon as possible to prevent infections. Since poorly controlled diabetics are at higher risk of developing thrush

     You should always frequently ask your child about how their mouth feels, remind them to brush and floss daily and remind them that controlling their blood sugar levels is very important.
