Should I do cardio in the morning on an empty stomach to lose more fat?

Neal Spruce of dotFIT answered:That's just an idea left over from the 1980s. When it comes to weight loss, it’s the total calories in versus out for the day, and you would never deprive yourself of calories (which you will eventually consume anyway) before the one activity in the day that requires the most energy. All athletes eat before they train because you burn more calories by having a better workout and you burn more calories after the workout. So just keep daily calorie total intake below your output and eat something before the workout in order to make sure you have more energy to burn more calories. National Academy of Sports Medicine answered:Studies have shown that exercising in a fasted state causes the body to go after fat stores for fuel since there are no carbohydrates readily available. It’s also been shown that people that exercise on an empty stomach aren’t able to perform as well, or for as long as those that eat prior to exercise. People that exercise on an empty stomach are also likely to overeat after exercise. If you plan on doing cardio on an empty stomach, be sure to regulate your intensity levels so they are sustainable, and careful not to overeat afterwards.
