Can secondary high blood pressure be prevented?

In many cases, secondary high blood pressure cannot be prevented because it is caused by factors that are out of your control. For example, you may not be able to prevent a kidney disorder or a tumor from developing in your adrenal gland and both of these conditions can lead to secondary high blood pressure. Sometimes, however, secondary high blood pressure is the result of illegal drug use and that can be prevented. Using drugs like amphetamines and cocaine can harm your body and cause secondary high blood pressure. Avoiding them will greatly reduce your risk of developing the condition.
