    Dr. Jeffrey Benabio answered:
It depends on the type of rosacea. Some people have redness, dilated ("broken") blood vessels and sensitivity on their nose and cheeks every day. They benefit from treatment, usually a topical medication, once or twice everyday. Other people have rosacea that comes as red pimples on their nose and mid face. For them, breakouts are often periodic. These patients can often manage their rosacea by taking oral antibiotics a few days to weeks every time they have an outbreak.
