In most cases, people with lone atrial fibrillation have a low risk of stroke. Largely because of their age, they are less likely to develop blood clots which often contribute to strokes. The American College of Chest Physicians (ACCP) recommends that people with lone A-fib receive treatment with aspirin to further reduce their risk of stroke. If you have lone A-fib, talk to your doctor about reducing your risk of stroke with aspirin or other blood thinner.
