    Red yeast rice has similar properties to a statin cholesterol drug called lovastatin.  As a result red yeast rice along with Nexium may have a drug interaction that increases the muscle toxicity risk from the red yeast rice (lovastatin). If you experience any unexplained muscle pain, tenderness or weakness.
