What's the rate of incidence for listeriosis?
-
Annually, about 2,500 Americans get diagnosed with a serious case of listeriosis. This number does not include the potentially numerous cases in which otherwise healthy individuals get infected with the condition but only suffer from mild symptoms that go away in time. Of these 2,500 serious cases, about 20 percent are fatal. Additionally, about one in three people who get diagnosed with listeriosis is a pregnant woman.
