What is the rate of incidence for acromegaly?

Acromegaly is a rare disease. Every year, about three or four people in every million develop acromegaly, which means that there are around 400,000 people in the world living with the disease. However, because the disease is so rare and the symptoms develop so gradually, diagnosis is difficult. So, it is possible that more people have the disease than these numbers suggest.
