The prostate gland grows throughout a man's life, but it doesn't reach the size where it could become a health concern until adulthood. Thus, children do not usually get enlarged prostates. In fact, it rarely strikes men under the age of 40. By the time they reach their 60s, about half of men will have symptoms of an enlarged prostate. By the time they hit their 80's that percentage jumps to about 90%.
