The best way to avoid getting the flu during the holidays is to get your seasonal flu vaccine as soon as it becomes available (usually in September or October). However, it's never too late to get the vaccine.

Since the holidays are a time when lots of people (and their germs) mingle, there are some common sense guidelines you can follow to keep from getting sick:
    • Wash your hands frequently with soap and water.
    • Use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer when soap and water are not available.
    • Keep your hands away from your eyes, mouth, and nose.
    • Steer clear of anyone who is sick.
    • Urge your loved ones and friends to stay home if they come down with the flu.
