Make sure to have the following handy in your car to be prepared for a possible car accident:

    • Stock your glove compartment with small water bottles or pouches of
       water.

    • Snacks with a long shelf life such as energy bars (replace them with
fresh ones when you change your smoke alarm batteries).

    • Light sticks and string to attract help. If you are trapped in the vehicle,
you can use the string to swing the light outside the window. Other
signaling devices include the rearview mirror and the backs of CDs.

    • The Lifehammer, an all-in-one tool that includes a blade to cut seatbelts
and a double-sided hammer to easily and safely break side windows if
the doors are stuck or the car is submerged.

Natural remedies for a car accident include Arnica for bruising, Calendula for cuts and scrapes, and Phosphorus for bleeding, plus Aconite for the emotional shock and fright of the accident. Of course call 911 first and give these remedies while waiting.

Everyone should get a dose of Aconite right away to help them keep calm while waiting for emergency medical help. Give Arnica to anyone who banged into the dashboard, steering wheel or seat, Calendula to anyone with an open wound (for example from broken glass) and Phosphorus if the bleeding won’t stop. These remedies will start the healing right away while you are waiting for the EMTs.

Directions: Dissolve a couple of pellets in the mouth as one dose. You can get these remedies in any health food store in a 30c potency (strength) or get them online, for example at www.homeopathic.com. The tubes are small and will easily fit in your glove compartment.
