There is no special preparation for a Holter monitor test. However, it is a good idea to take a bath or shower before coming to the Holter laboratory. The electrode patches will not stick to sweaty or oily skin. In addition, you will not be able to bathe or shower during the testing period, as the monitor cannot get wet or be removed until the test is complete. You can take a careful sponge bath, however.

It is also more convenient if you wear a loose-fitting button-up shirt to the Holter lab, as it makes it easier to apply the electrode patches to your chest.

Be sure to tell your doctor if you are allergic to tapes or adhesives, as it may make you prone to skin irritation and redness where the electrode patches stick to your chest.
