Can physical therapy help me move easier with a burn injury?
-
Challenge America answered:Physical therapy is a necessary part of the treatment protocol for persons with severe burns. A licensed physical therapist will help to improve movement and function of the sites affected by the burn. The physical therapist will help with flexibility exercises, range of motion exercises, body positioning, moving injured limbs, and total function so you are able to get up and be active again. If you are unable to move, the physical therapist will do “passive therapy,” and move your limbs to help keep the muscles and joints strong and moving in full range of motion. When you are able to stand, your physical therapist will assist you with walking or relearning how to walk using different tools to help support your weight.
