Critical care physician will be best able to answer questions about treatment options for families about patient care in ICU. It might help to have an ICU pharmacist available for daily rounds so that he can help the physician (intensivist) select the best treatment options for patients. If patient is critical and there is a debate about best treatment options it might be helpful for the healthcare team to be on the same page before having a discussion with the family. I think an experienced ICU pharmacist is an asset to the daily critical care rounds and decisions about care. I would recomend just one person (i.e. physician in charge) to have discussion with the family so that they do not recieve conflicting information.
