Will my family have to pay my hospital bill if I cannot afford it?

If you cannot afford your hospital bill, the hospital will look at alternatives to collection.  If there is not financial independence with a family member, that member will have to pay the bill.  If you are totally financially independent, the hospital will look for other sources to pay for your care.  This may mean trying to get you eligible for Medicaid or other indigent care funds. In general, your funds will be totally exhausted before they will be able to make such applications.
