Three things to keep in mind while exercising outdoors.

    1. Stay creative: the only limit to your exercise variation and selection is creativity. Use trees, benches, jungle jims, and whatever else you can use to create your exercise routine.
    2. Avoid the heat: Choose a time of the day where you don’t get caught in the heat, and be sure to bring plenty of fluid so you stay hydrated.
    3. Work out with a partner: This keeps you both focused and accountable!

Exercising outdoors in the fresh air can feel great, but you need to be prepared.

    • Stay well-hydrated
    • Wear sunscreen, a hat, lightweight long-sleeved clothing
    • Exercise in a well-lit, safe area
    • Be aware of your surroundings
    • Exercise with a buddy. If you're going it alone--for example, running or hiking--make sure someone knows you're route and your expected return time/date.
    • Watch for traffic and obey all signs/laws
    • Bring along a whistle, some pepper spray (check the laws for usage in your state/area), etc., for protection
