  1. People who have jobs or activities that require them to frequently be around loud noises are advised to regularly get tested for noise-induced hearing loss. During these appointments, a doctor will first ask you about your history with your hearing loss symptoms, and then do a physical examination to rule out other causes for your hearing loss. You will then probably go through a few different tests to find out the nature of your hearing loss. The most common tests are audiometer tests and tuning fork tests. Both of these tests involve exposing your ears to sounds at different pitches and frequencies so that a doctor can observe if and how you respond to them.
