A history of liver disease or damage can prevent Nexium from being properly flushed from the body, causing it to build up to unsafe levels. Therefore, while it is possible to take Nexium with a history of liver problems, be sure to let your doctor know about your medical history. That way, adjustments can be made to dosage amounts to help offset the buildup of the medicine in the body.
