    Try over-the-counter lice shampoo applied to a dry scalp and hair and leave on for as long as recommended. Finally, comb out every nit (the tiny whitish-gray eggs) from your child’s head--this can be very time consuming if there is a lot of hair! If you’re not having much luck eliminating the lice, there is also a prescription-strength shampoo available, so call your pediatrician.
