The urinary system requires all muscles and nerves to work together. Nerve messages travel to and from the brain. These tell the bladder when it is time to release urine. Nerve damage can cause the bladder muscles to squeeze without warning. This can causes the following overactive bladder symptoms:

    • Urinary frequency, which is urinating eight or more times a day or two or more times at night

    • Urinary urgency, which is a sudden, strong need to go immediately

    • Urge incontinence, which is urine leaking because of a sudden, strong urge to urinate
