    The best way to learn more about non-employer health insurance plans is to do your homework. A few things to consider when you are looking for a health insurance plan:

    • The cost of the premium, co-pays, co-insurance and deductible;
    • How much you'll have to pay for medical services after the deductible;
    • The out-of-pocket maximum or cap;
    • Coverage and benefits of each plan. Does it cover preventive exams, tests, treatments and immunizations?
