You should know that fatal heart or lung problems have been reported to occur within 30 minutes after Optison injection. Your doctor will monitor your condition for 30 minutes following an Optison injection. Because Optison contains albumen, a blood product, there is a slight risk of contracting a central nervous system disorder, such as Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease, or a viral disease.
