Tricor (fenofibrate) lowers bad cholesterol and triglycerides and increases good cholesterol. It should be used in combination with a diet and exercise program.
Do not drink alcohol while taking Tricor, as alcohol can raise triglyceride levels and may cause liver damage if taken with Tricor.
Tricor has been connected to a rare and serious side effect that targets the muscles. If you develop abnormal muscle pain, weakness, or tenderness, and have fever or flu-like symptoms, contact your doctor right away. You should talk to your doctor if you have had hepatitis, cirrhosis, diabetes, hypothyroidism, or liver, kidney, or gallbladder disease before you start taking Tricor.
