Stacy Wiegman answered:Do not take metolazone if you are allergic to it or sulfa drugs. Tell your doctor if you are unable to urinate or have asthma, allergies, kidney or liver disease, diabetes or gout. Ask your doctor before taking the medication if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Do not drink alcohol with metolazone. Stay properly hydrated while taking it, because having too much or too little fluid in your body while on this drug may be dangerous. Before taking metolazone, tell your doctor about any medications, vitamins or nutritional supplements you are taking. Especially tell your doctor if you are using any of the following: lithium, prednisone or other corticosteroids, insulin, oral diabetes medications, high blood pressure medication, furosemide, steroidal drugs, Motrin or other anti-inflammatory pain relievers, probenecid, digoxin, aspirin or other salicylates, methenamine or blood thinners.
