Is your diet causing your wrinkles?

Dr. Mehmet Oz answered:Stress is often the beginning of a slippery slope of poor health, leading to a poor diet, less sleep and no exercise. When all of these detriments come together, wrinkles often result. On the other hand, a healthy diet rich in antioxidants can help keep your skin healthy as well.

Dr. Gary Goldenberg of The Mount Sinai Medical Center answered:Your diet has very little to do with your wrinkles. Wrinkles are caused by multiple factors, including genetics, sun exposure, movement of your facial muscles and simply age. Having said that, it is very important to maintain a healthy diet and lifestyle. There are ways to minimize wrinkles: avoid sun exposure and use sunscreen, use moisturizer, retinoids (specifically prescription strength tretinoin) have been shown to reduce fine wrinkles and lines, and injectables like Botox or dysport can help to reduce and somewhat prevent wrinkles.
