Is sepsis serious?
-
Sepsis is a very serious condition because its symptoms can possibly lead to death, if not treated immediately. The septic shock is the stage that is the most serious because during this stage the body's blood pressure drops extremely low. Along with the low blood pressure, the pulse increases and it becomes difficult to breathe. Because of the widespread inflammation, the blood flow is impaired and oxygen flow to the organs is limited. The risk of death for people with septic shock is on average 40 percent.
