    MediGuard answered:
The H2-antagonists, such as ranitidine, are commonly used in infants and children who have gastroesophageal reflux (GER) because they are available in liquid form.  Given before meals, ranitidine can help with decreasing the amount of reflux, or spit-up, that the infant has.  Ranitidine is FDA-approved for use in infants.  It has been shown to be safe and effective for pediatric patients. At this time, studies do not show any long term side effects on infants.
