    The answer depends upon the severity of the symptoms. Many cases are associated with only mild symptoms of pain, sexual dysfunction, and urinary dysfunction. Others are associated with severe symptoms that may be associated also with malaise and other nonspecific constitutional complaints. In severe cases, chronic nonbacterial prostatitis can be debilitating.
