Congenital hypogonadism is serious insofar as it can have a significant impact on quality of life and sexual health. The earlier it develops, the more serious it is; if it develops before birth, it can cause malformation of the genitalia, for example. In children and adolescents, because it affects onset of puberty, it can cause noticeable physical differences if not treated promptly.
