Have you noticed that avocados are turning up in trendy skin care products? That's because scientists have found that some antioxidants -- like the natural vitamin E in avocado -- help protect the skin from aging and damage caused by sun, smoke, and pollution. "Avocados are also a great way to moisturize because they act as humectants -- that is, they draw water into the skin and plump it up, giving it a more youthful quality. And because the antioxidants in avocados are in their native form, they may be more effective than other forms of vitamin E," says dermatologist Amy Wechsler, MD, RealAge's skin specialist.

Avocados are good for the skin. They can be used an internal lubricant or applied to the skin as a moisturizer. Many skin care products now contain avocado and avocado oil. Avocado has lots of Vitamin E which is an antioxidant that keeps the skin oxygenated.
