A little bit of alcohol won’t hurt- and it may even help-your heart.  If you don’t drink, don’t start.  If you do, keep it moderate.  For women, “moderate” means 1 drink a day.  For men the limit is 1-2 drinks a day.  One drink is defined as 12 oz. beer, 4 oz. of wine, or 1 oz. of 100-proof spirits
