    Zinc deficiency by itself has not been linked to asthma symptoms, but asthma patients have been shown to have lower plasma zinc than healthy subjects. Serum and hair zinc have been found to be significantly lower in individuals with asthma and atopic dermatitis. Even without definitive research on long-term zinc use for asthmatics, such supplementation appears to be warranted to avoid potential exacerbation of asthma symptoms.
