Whiplash injuries may also be accompanied by injuries to the brain. The acceleration and deacceleration of the head and neck that causes a whiplash, may also cause the brain to "slosh" from side to side or front to back in the skull, which can lead to brain injury. Any diagnoses of whiplash should include further testing for damage to the brain.
