Therefore, voice disorders primarily affect the voice box and throat. Sometimes, when voice disorders are the result of infections or cancer, systemic effects can occur throughout the body. In the case of an infection, these effects could include a fever and fatigue. In the case of cancer, metastases (spreading cancer) can result in other organ systems becoming affected by the disease.
