How can I prevent a tear or vision loss from vitreous detachment?

Posterior vitreous detachment is a relatively common condition. If there is no evidence of a retinal tear or retinal detachment, usually nothing needs to be done. If the floaters or flashes get worse or if there is any sign of decreased vision loss of peripheral vision, you should return to your retina specialist as soon as possible. There is nothing you can do to prevent vision loss from occurring or to prevent a similar episode in your other eye.
