It's possible that sodium fluoride may interact with some other medications or products. Although there aren't any medications in particular that have been shown to interact with sodium fluoride, it's a good idea to tell your doctor or dentist about all of the medications and supplements you're taking before starting sodium fluoride treatment. If you're taking sodium fluoride tablets, don't take antacids within several hours of taking sodium fluoride. Also, don't eat or drink dairy products from one hour before to two hours after you take sodium fluoride. If you're starting the toothpaste or gel form of sodium fluoride, be sure to tell your doctor about other dental products you're using.

Sodium fluoride -- a supplement your dentist may prescribe if your municipal water supply doesn’t contain enough fluoride to prevent cavities -- can interact with some foods and dietary supplements, including iron, magnesium, or calcium. Make sure to tell your doctor before taking any of these supplements. Sodium fluoride does not have any significant interactions with most medications. Make sure not to drink milk or consume dairy, such as cheese or yogurt, for an hour before and an hour after taking a sodium fluoride supplement.
