    You should take albuterol exactly as prescribed by your doctor. Albuterol can be taken with a metered dose inhaler (which you should shake well prior to inhalation), as an inhalation solution, as a regular or extended release tablet or as a syrup. Do not abruptly discontinue use of albuterol or change dosage without your doctor's supervision. Young children may lack the physical dexterity to properly operate an inhaler and may need to use an inhaler with a spacer (with or without a facemask) or a liquid or tablet form to receive the proper dosage.
