Dr. Mehmet Oz answered:To remove the wart, you have to kill off the cells that have the wart virus in their DNA. Here's how: Soak the affected area, file down the dead skin, then apply wart medicine. Most over-the-counter preparations contain 17 percent to 18 percent salicylic acid. Then cover the wart with a bandage. Do this nightly for several weeks.
If the wart persists, you can go to the doc for a stronger concentration of salicylic acid or to have it frozen off or burned off with laser therapy. (Both of those options do hurt a bit.) Or you can try the old-fashioned way: Cover the wart completely with duct tape and leave it on for a week. Some swear that the tape will suffocate the wart, and it will come off when you remove the tape. Others also recommend using topical vitamin A, and some anecdotal evidence shows that alcohol sanitizers can do the trick too.
