  1. People with ankyloglossia (tongue-tie) are not abnormally affected by other illnesses as the condition is a physical abnormality. Illnesses, however, may affect the treatment of ankyloglossia. If an infant, for instance, is born with a blood-clotting disorder he or she may not be able to undergo corrective surgery for some time. A baby's inability to breastfeed properly may also lead it to be more prone to illness as it is not getting the correct nutrients/antibodies from its mother.
