The optimum amount of sleep time for teens is 9 and 1/4 hours per night.  This is hard to do because most teens are wired to stay up late and it is not unusual to fall asleep around 11PM.  When most schools start early, it is tough for a teen to get enough sleep.  That is why some highschools are changing their start times to later in the morning.

It is important to make sleep a priority.  Develop good habits as a teenager that will help you as an adult. Stay on a schedule, get into a routine, turn off your lights, phone, computer and TV.  A good night's sleep will help your mood, health and your grades.
