How do medications treat vestibular neuronitis?

Medications cannot cure vestibular neuronitis. Most doctors believe this form of vertigo is caused by a viral infection, which cannot be treated with antibiotics. However, doctors do use medications to treat and relieve the symptoms of the disorder. Some of the common medicines used are antihistamines, antimetics (for nausea and vomiting), benzodiazepines (anticonvulsants) and oral corticosteroids. Liquids in an IV tube may also be supplied to patients who have become dehydrated due to excessive vomiting.
