Indomethacin decreases amniotic fluid by limiting urination of the fetus. However, indomethacin cannot be used after 31 or 32 weeks of pregnancy. It can produce complications with the fetus's heart, increasing the need for monitoring during treatment. It can also cause nausea and gastrointestinal problems. Indomethacin is usually taken orally.
