How do medications treat an irreducible hernia?

Irreducible hernias cannot be treated with medication. Irreducible hernias are a serious type of hernia that develops when the intestine becomes swollen or inflamed outside the abdomen wall. Surgery is needed to push the part of the intestine trapped (incarcerated) outside the abdomen wall back into the abdomen. The opening on the abdomen wall is then repaired.
