    Stacy Wiegman answered:
Magnesium gluconate (Magtrate, Mag-G, Magtrate, Magonate) is an over-the-counter (OTC) drug that restores low levels of magnesium in the body. Magnesium levels in the body might drop due to kidney or gastrointestinal diseases and prolonged vomiting and diarrhea. Magnesium gluconate restores these levels in the blood. It can be taken orally as a tablet or liquid.
