Intracerebral hemorrhage is a type of stroke that results when a blood vessel bursts in the brain. The condition strikes quickly, and it can cause brain damage. In many cases, the condition develops in people with long-term high blood pressure, which damages blood vessels over time. Over half of the individuals with a large intracerebral hemorrhage will not live more than a few days. Of those who survive, many will recover not fully recover.
