Infantile scoliosis causes the spine to look like an S or a C. This shape can cause the child soreness in the back when sitting or standing. If the curve of the back is severe, it may affect the shape of the ribcage and cause breathing problems. If left untreated, when the child becomes an adult, the condition can lead to arthritis and chronic back pain.
