The way to healthy teeth and bones includes eating a well-balanced diet. Foods that are high in sugar are not only high in calories, but can be bad for your teeth. It is important to brush your teeth twice a day for two minutes to keep sugar and other food off the teeth. Food particles and sugar that linger can create tooth decay and cavities, and this is a reason to also limit snacking. In addition, drinking fluoridated community water helps in preventing tooth decay and keeping your teeth healthy. Foods that are high in calcium, such as milk and orange juice are good for your bones and whole body.

Healthy teeth and bones start with plenty of calcium and lots of physical activity.

Here are some calcium-containing foods that are tasty and nutritious:
    • Blend low-fat yogurt with fresh bananas and berries for a cool, calcium-rich smoothie.
    • Top fresh spring asparagus or peas with melted cheese.
    • Slice a variety of low-fat cheeses and serve with sliced apples, pears and berries.
    • Top low-fat frozen yogurt with sliced berries and chocolate sauce.
In addition to consuming calcium, help strengthen bones by getting regular physical activity such as walking, running or dancing. Enjoying activity and healthier food choices is the start of a healthy lifestyle.
