You can deal with your child's temper tantrums in several ways First, look at what causes the tantrum. It is important to take note of what is happening right before his temper tantrum, or what is planned to happen next in his schedule. Perhaps there are specific situations that cause anxiety, and your child with autism could learn some techniques in cognitive behavioral therapy to deal with these situations. You can also help your child with autism learn to control his temper by offering him alternative, more appropriate behaviors. Providing your child with autism with all-day consistent structure can help. Medication in and of itself is not a solution to temper tantrums in children with autism, but can be used as a component of a whole program.
