How does ethotoin interact with other medications or foods?

Ethotoin should not be combined with alcohol or tobacco. Certain medications may interfere with ethotoin or increase the side effects. The following medications can interact with ethotoin: Advil, Aleve, Amaryl, Bactrim, Carbatrol, Cataflam, Clozaril, Compazine, Cotrim, Coumadin, Cuprimine, Depakote, Depakene, Depen, Diabinese, Dilantin, Etrafon, FazaiClo, Felbatol, Glucotrol, Indocin, Janimine, Lodine, Levothroid, Loxitane, Ludiomil, Motrin, Mysoline, Navane, Naprosyn, Naproxen, Nebupent, Orap, Orinase, Pamelor, Priftin, Remeron, Septra, SMX-TMP, Sinequan, Synthroid, Tegretol, Thorazine, Ticlid, Tofranil, Trilafon, Tolinase or Voltaren. Anti-seizure medications, antibiotics, antidepressants, psychiatric disorder medications, anti-inflammatory drugs, muscle relaxers, narcotic pain relievers, antihistamines, sleep inducing medication, supplements and vitamins may interact. Ethotoin decreases the effectiveness of birth control, so non-hormonal contraception may be needed to prevent pregnancy (condoms, spermicides, etc).
