Evidence suggests that hazards in our environment contribute to human cancers, reproductive problems, birth defects, and even behavioral disorders among other diseases. (The word "Environment" here includes our diet and living habits as well as our surroundings.) Our bodies contain measurable amounts of industrial chemicals, pesticides, and other toxic wastes from the air, soil, food, and water. Chemicals in household products, biological hazards, and physical stresses at work and at home may also contribute to illness or injury.
